Ulster Elks Summer Conditioning Programme 2014

Ulster Elks Summer Conditioning Programme (2014)

The Ulster Elks Summer Conditioning Programme (2014) is a new concept in fitness training that has been developed by the Performance Services Unit. The programme will run for four weeks with three training sessions per week. The training sessions will take place in the world class training facilities at the Jordanstown sports centre (indoor athletics hall and strength & conditioning facility) and delivered by the Performance Services unit strength & conditioning coaches.

Each participant will be fitness tested at the start and end of the programme so that they can measure improvements in strength, power, speed and agility. This training programme is designed to take standards of playing performance to new heights for all young athletes involved in games and racquet sports and will be very challenging!

The programme is open to boys and girls aged 14-16 years who are currently involved in competitive sport and represent a club or school team.

Talented Athlete Entry Scheme

Talented Athlete Entry Scheme

The University of Ulster Talented Athlete Entry Scheme is designed to assist talented young sports performers in gaining access to a quality education at the University of Ulster whilst attaining success at the highest levels within their chosen sport.

The Scheme recognises the sacrifice in time, effort and crucially – in examination performance – which may result from taking part in sport at the highest level. Under the Talented Athlete Entry Scheme, the University of Ulster allows a reduction in the points required for entry to full-time undergraduate courses. For the academic year 2014-15 successful applicants to the Talented Athlete Entry Scheme will be offered a reduction in entrance requirements of 40 UCAS Tariff Points or the equivalent in other accepted entrance qualifications.
